In Service with Healing Roots since 1998.

26 Nov

Healing Roots is such an appropriate business name for what Tausha has built over the past 20
years. Celebrating her 20th anniversary this year, she looks back to what has always been a call
to be “in service”. In service to others, whether through her beginnings in catering and
restaurants to her now ever-growing massage therapy business, service has been the root of it all.

How does one transition from the food industry to massage? By getting injured. While working
her catering job, Tausha injured her back to the point that surgery was provided as an option in the
future if she kept going the way she was. After attending a convention on natural therapies, she saw the rewards of serving others, the benefit of the practice – in people. And as she researched additional ways to take a proactive approach to healing, ways to heal her back without going under a knife, she discovered massage therapy and yoga could bring the much-needed healing she desired.

After graduation, she began the long process of building her client list. Working in spas and
salons, she sat all day and became frustrated by people choosing to prioritize hair styles,
painted nails and facials over massage. One of her classmates had been the sister of a yoga
studio owner here in Fishers, Source Yoga. Reaching out to them she procured a private studio
room that her current clients to attend. Working multiple jobs to pay the bills while also in the
midst of starting Healing Roots, she realized she couldn’t do it all. No one wants a stressed out
massage therapist. Terrified to pursue full time massage, she continued her “day jobs” until
finally, a client told her to just go for it! A few small words that amount to a large undertaking.
She took that advice, jumped in head first and panicked.

Groupon at the time was a booming resource. Thinking that she could appeal to a smaller
audience, Tausha sent one out and waited. 800 appointments later, she knew people were
seeking help. They were seeking healing and just didn’t know how to get from point A to point B.
That Groupon helped Healing Roots to, well, become rooted in the community. A core base of
true clients were established, and she has had some of those same clients for over a decade.
Now that is service.

Throughout the past 20 years, learning to quiet her own mind, learning to meditate and focus
has not come easily. That’s the origin of the name Healing Roots. She knows that to be
effective, to flourish, you must be grounded. To care about the whole person – spiritual,
emotional, & physical – she must be rooted herself. 20 years in a small room gives one time to
find the balance, to “hold that space” for the person to heal. She has mastered the art of
preparing a space in which to serve others so that they may heal. Though mastery is never the
end. Tausha continues to learn, to research, to take classes, to read. And though her continuous
learning, she realized that she needed massage as much as others needed it. It has given her
drive and perseverance to continue to grow.

At Healing Roots, you won’t find your run of the mill massage. We’ve all had those, pretty basic,
maybe a little relaxing, but nothing that is true healing. Nothing that gets into the root of the pain. Healing Roots in different. Each client is approached differently. Each session is adjusted based on each person’s body. We’re all different from each other and we’re different with each session. Tausha has mastered the skill of listening to the body, hearing what it says each time. The trinity of healing – spiritual, emotional and physical – is the basis of each session. They all work together to benefit the body. She has been truly amazed to see how the energy of each person is different from the next. She places this same practice on herself. In the beginnings of the
business, she put in the leg work in to build her clients. But she realized, when she put the leg
work in on focusing on taking care of herself, the business came pouring in.

Holding court inside a yoga studio has shown her even more in how to pull other areas into
balance not just focus on one immediate thing. How can you heal if you’re sabotaging yourself?
She has relied upon her view of seeing things differently and looking to find different
approaches to all situations. As with any business, one must be flexible with change as well as
expect it. At Healing Roots, therapy comes in looking for change and healing in the pursuit of it.
Tausha is truly a gift of healing. A gift of ‘in-service’. If you have not yet experienced a massage
session at Healing Roots, you are missing out. People have this idea that massage is “fu-fu”, all
light and airy. In reality, true depths of healing the body, mind and spirit, are found through
connective, restoring massage therapy. Budget out time for yourself first or you will have no
time for others. You will be amazed at how better you feel, the better it is for everyone around
you. Take the time, friend.

Connecting Hands and Heart

31 Jan

Passionate about your living your best life in holistic wellness? Massage is an integral part of that continuing wellness to create an open state of flow and vitality. Let a therapeutic massage help You connect to your optimal state. Create your masterpiece this year!

The heart has its own complex nervous system. Electromagnetic fields form around the heart up to 15 feet from the body. Research by Heartmath.org has shown our Human Resonant Frequency is 0.1 Hz when we are in alignment with our spirits, heart, mind, emotions, and body systems. Healing thrives in this environment of coherence. Resetting your system from the flight-or-flight mode, a stressful response, through a Heart-Focused Massage can help create a coherent pattern. Coherence, in any system, is a state of efficiency in which everything works together in an orderly and synergistic manner. Therapeutic Massage can help engage the power of the heart and effectively add to the resiliency and responsiveness in everyday life, rather than “subtracting” from our vitality by staying in a state of stress. As a result, stress hormones are reduced and the anti-aging hormone DHEA is produced.

Before each therapy session, I align my body, mind and spirit to bring balance for each therapy session to come from the heart to aid in the healing process for you. There are measurable benefits from committing to a practice of regular massage sessions to contribute to an open state of flow and vitality through heart-focused breathing and body awareness. Many times one is not even aware of the blockages held in the body until you are on a massage table. Massage it a great tool to open you to more positive possibilities in life. Showing Love and Appreciation for our bodies in this way supports our vehicles which carry us throughout life.

Many Blessings, Tausha Luttrell PDMT

GET Your Muscles TUNED!

14 Jun

How would your car run if you never took it in to get a tune up? It may get you where you need to go for now AND your vehicle more than likely will cost more in the long run. Getting bodywork is much like getting that well needed oil change. Are you ready to transform your body’s movement into a healthy flow? Need to come in for your massage session and check out Dr. Aurthur Pauls Osteopathic work I have been studying called Ortho-Bionomy. His work produces amazing results to get your body tuned up!

I have  been excited to add new tools in my box through several workshops I’ve attended this year to provide you with quality massage sessions. The latest workshop focused on joints and how they all relate to another to give you optimal range of movement. By re-balancing the tone around the joint, multiple areas can be addressed with one technique. Your muscle fibers can reset to normal resting length, resulting in the release of tension and holding—and often the release of pain.

Bring you attention to be able to recognize and reaffirm your own inherent ability to find comfort within your body through massage. Checking in will give you the edge to get connected to the place in your body where real freedom of movement resides. Stuck in a pattern of discomfort, shake it up a bit and set the healing fluids free so that your body may remember how to work in tune.

Ortho-Bionomy Teaching the Body to Remember!

08 Mar

Ortho-Bionomy is a gentle, non-invasive form of therapeutic bodywork. Dr. Arthur Lincoln Pauls, a British osteopath, found a way to work with the body which honored the body’s inherent wisdom. Ortho-Bionomy works With the body by exaggerating the body’s preferred postures, thereby permitting the body’s self-healing process to create greater balance and alignment.  The inner wisdom of the body is recognized and affirmed. Self-healing occurs as the person remembers their natural ability to move away from pain and toward ease. In 1976 Dr. Pauls began teaching Ortho-Bionomy in the U.S.

My first class of Ortho-Bionomy taught the effects of the bowstring. The bowstring is a line of fascia that starts at the base of our skulls and then goes anteriorly down our bodies. Three dimensionally, the fascia connects our bodies from front to back. Our teacher Terri Lee talked of how the anterior fascia can be much like a string on a bow. When it is contracted it can keep our body bent forward.

Many of us need relief with our neck and backs. Our school of thought many times is work where the pain is. In reality, as much as you work with the muscle and fascia of the back, it will not release as well if you don’t open the front to create space and give the over stretched muscles of the back room to breathe.

While practicing this therapeutic modality and experiencing the release of my bowstring, I was amazed how my posture shifted. My body is flowing with a vibrant harmony that I have not felt in a long time!  From my structure being in a more natural state, I could feel my circulation working better as well as the lymph flow was stimulated to flush my toxins away. The stress in my face has vanished unveiling a more youthful appearance. I feel securely grounded as my hips released an old muscle pattern I held since falling 30 feet out of a tree when I was 15. I love how Ortho-Bionomy works With the body to release tension patterns.

Many times in therapy sessions, I’ve noticed how muscles react to sudden movement. Instead of letting go, it seems they want to hold on tighter. Reminds me of situations I’ve encountered with my children. If I overreact and demand they let go, I meet much more resistance than if I were to have a firm but kind and loving approach. Less is more! Wow, I feel so blessed Ortho-Bionomy has been brought into my life and work as a massage therapist. I hardly can wait to learn more and share this journey with rediscovering how our bodies feel when they are balanced! With spring in the air, why not put a spring in your step through massage and bodywork! Call Tausha with Healing Roots Massage at 317-709-4559 to schedule your session and begin feeling more light on your feet.

Massage: Get in touch!

06 Jan

By Tausha

Many of us go through our daily life not knowing the stress we carry within until we experience the gift of massage.  A silent, distressful burden placed upon our neck, back, and shoulders. For some, the stress and tightness has been there so long this state can almost appear to be a normal balance for our bodies. Why do we choose to hold onto something that is so detrimental for our health and lively hood? I’ve experienced this state for myself. I have always been somewhat of a pack rat. OK, really it was a problem clouding the quality of my life and letting time rule me instead of making room for the new. Stagnate energy has made a good breeding ground for the habitually tight muscles in my neck and back.  A few years ago, I was invited by my life coach to attended a feng  shui seminar that helped kickoff the transformation in my life and made letting go fun! But nothing becomes second nature without practice.
*
Little by little, I have been able to let some of the material objects in my life go and shift my perspective from one without to one within. My muscles have reaped the rewards in such an uplifting way where it has changed what I choose to carry with me. Now at my massage therapy appointments every other week, I experience the art of being without doing in a very fulfilling way. My posture has improved tremendously, I don’t have the frequency of aches, pains, and stress in my day to day life, and even my voice has changed to be more relaxed and calm!
*
I am grateful to live in a time where the perception of massage as therapy is changing from one of a luxury to a kneaded preventive health care.  Massage is no longer available only through luxury spas and upscale health clubs. Today, massage therapy is offered in businesses, clinics, hospitals and even airports. That in its self speaks with clarity! Get in touch! Make yourself happy and schedule your massage with Healing Roots today!

Life, gratitude, and the New Year!
Enjoy your life and be happy.  Being happy is of the utmost importance.  Success in anything is through happiness.  More support of nature comes from being happy. Under all circumstances be happy, even if you have to force it a bit to change some long standing habits.  Just think of any negativity that comes to you as a raindrop falling into the ocean of your bliss.  You may not always have an ocean of bliss, but think that way anyway and it will help it come.  Doubting is not blissful and does not create happiness.  Be happy, healthy, and let all that love flow through your heart.

Touch is a basic human instinct.

01 Dec

To reach out is a universal action that offers love and caring. Let’s get out of our heads and into our hearts this holiday season! Our hands connect us to our hearts in so many ways.

Something as simple as grabbing a loved ones hand to hold can bring a joy that makes your heart skip a beat, and can bring a sense of safety for a child in this big new world. Blowing kisses, clapping our hands to show appreciation, or giving a thumbs up conveys a message of affirmation and healing. Our inner child comes to life when we create with our hands. Let’s go ahead and jump in and not be afraid to get a little dirty!

With our hands we can be the musician that brings sound therapy to a whole new level. Express those heartfelt emotions while playing the notes. Just feel! Prepare a delicious home cooked meal with our hands to bring warmth in our hearts and nourish our bodies.

Prayerful hands can quiet the activities of our physical bodies. Yoga and meditation often use hand postures and gestures to open and ground our hearts. Another powerful healing touch is massage and bodywork. Massage creates a blissful flow of energy to help us check in with our body and connect. Let’s open our hearts this season and give the gift of touch!
